Colder weather pattern unfolds…Matt and Danielle offer their thoughts

Posted by Matt Noyes November 17, 2008 at 12:22 pm

A long-anticipated East Coast trough is carving out. Last week, we mentioned that the new pattern would bring colder than normal conditions at least through Thanksgiving, and this week Danielle and I are expecting the cold to hold into the start of December…

All the while, storm threats will arise occasionally with strong jet stream level disturbances digging through the Midwest and Great Lakes. The result is for Monday’s temperatures to end up the warmest of the next week, for sure, and perhaps longer, unless a brief warmer day can sneak into the forecast sometime next week, which seems unlikely at this point.

    Matt,
You were talking about the dirth of acorns this year in some locations. Just wanted you to know that up here in West Gloucester, we have plenty of acorns, but please don’t tell the squirrels. We have enough of those already, and plenty of wild turkeys, too. The red squirrels have been collecting acorns for weeks now. We have found that, some years, there seems to been a much heavier production of the nuts than in other years. And in the following spring, there will be more squirrels and mice ! ~~marge

Matt and Danielle…I am loving the style of this blog. Inside look of the weather and your personalities. Keep the conversation going. Great fun!

    Matt,
This cold weather is bringing thoughts of snow (and snow days) to my step-children!! The kids have been living in Florida for the past 3 years (they are 8 and 10) and can’t wait for the snow! They watch you in the morning with such hopeful faces… Any chance?? We ares starting a “Snow Box” with cocoa and the works so we are totally ready whenever you say “Go!”.

Thanks! We are watching!! You and the sky!

Got something to say?
