TORNADO WATCH IN EFFECT UNTIL 2 AM EST SUNDAY…
…WIND ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 AM EST SUNDAY…
THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR NORTHERN
CONNECTICUT…CENTRAL MASSACHUSETTS…EASTERN
MASSACHUSETTS…NORTHEASTERN MASSACHUSETTS…SOUTHEASTERN
MASSACHUSETTS…WESTERN MASSACHUSETTS.. RHODE ISLAND
A squall line has been racing from west to east across the region tonight providing a narrow band of heavy downpours and embedded thunder…which may be accompanied with damaging winds. Though the threat of a tornado appears to have diminished for now…the watch remains.
A LINE OF HEAVY SHOWERS MAY PRODUCE LOCALIZED STREET FLOODING AND
SCATTERED GUSTS TO 50 MPH AS IT MOVES THROUGH LATE THIS EVENING.
IN ADDITION…THERE IS A RISK OF DAMAGING THUNDERSTORM WINDS OR AN
ISOLATED TORNADO…MAINLY BETWEEN 9 PM AND 2 AM
Winds are picking up ahead of the front with gusts to 40+ mph. The storms are pushing into the CT river valley between 8:30 & 9 PM…showers or storms reaching the coast between 10:30 & Midnight…
High tides are creating splashover & minor beach erosion along our south facing coast this evening thanks to our high astronomical tide, along with building seas & winds.
Stay tuned to NECN for updates for any warning which may be issued. The environment does not appear to be very tornadic at this point.
