Splashover at High Tide

My goodness there is a lot going on this weekend! A warm front is moving through this morning. Lots of fog arround with visibilities below 1/2 mile. A slug of rain along with this frontal passage will keep the morning showery & wet with a few downpours and a thunderstorm or two over the Cape & Islands. Behind the warm front, will be a breezy tropical aimass with temperatures climbing well into the 60’s. The heaviest rain will be over, but periodic showers or drizzle will still be around. The midday high tide is running astronomically high thanks to our recent full moon. Look for rough surf and splash over during the highest running tidal cycle this month. Gale Warnings are up for the coastline as seas & wind will continue to build this afternoon & evening. An intensifying area of Low pressure will head up through New York state and eventually up into Canada. Along with this storm system will be a cold front accompanied by our next round of Rain and wind slated for arrival later tonight. The winds initially be from the south which will make the evening feel “summery’…but this summer wind will gust over 40 mph at the south coast. Rain will be heavy at times again tonight with some embedded thunder. I think the bet between Matt & Danielle for the chance of a thunderstorm will favor Matt’s idea once again. Score: 2-0 Matt. It’s going to be a long season ahead for these two. Don’t give up Danielle!
After lingering showers Sunday Morning , the front pushes off the coast with a windy west wind following behind. The wind, will help the clouds break for partial afternoon sunshine south, but I think the clouds will hold tight north, despite the rain being over. After a mild start, temperatures will begin their decline for the rest of the week. We will likely end Sunday afternoon with temps in the 40’s.
A stronger cold front will push through Monday Night and turn into a developing ocean storm off the coast of New England Tuesday. Though far enough offshore to spare any big impact, a few spotty rain/snow showers are possible. This will be the weather maker which ushers in the “real” cold as we will see the mercury plummet into the 30’s for the rest of the week. Enjoy the warmth while it is around!
