A noteworthy Ike-related resource

Andy Carvin, image via Wikipedia There are a lot of resources you can use to track Hurricane Ike as it takes aim on Texas - many of them in the links section of this very site.
There’s also a neat effort by a group of bloggers, led by Andy Carvin, who works on the new media side of NPR. As Gustav drew a bead on the Gulf Coast, Andy and a number of other bloggers developed http://www.hurricanes08.org/. It’s an effort not just to track information on hurricanes from a weather standpoint as they approach, it’s also a resource for links that might help locate people evacuated from the storm’s path, give ideas for the best places to donate, and so on.
it’s a resource that’s continuing to evolve. But it’s also one to which you can contribute. Check it out, and if and when a hurricane is headed our way, it’s a good resource to both learn from and contribute toward.

Great weather for our Monday, but an approaching cold front will kick up the winds…and perhaps some thunderstorms…on Tuesday! Plus, a look at Hurricane Ike.
